Tiny Sparrow Foundation

The Tiny Sparrow Foundation is in the process of being established as a non-profit organization by my great friend and neighbor, Lidia Boicu.  Lidia was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago.  She endured many rounds of chemotheraphy and underwent many surgeries to remove all the cancer that was throughout her body.
Instead of slipping into a state of depression, she channeled her frustration and anger in a very positive, therapeutic way. She had always had a passion for photography, but had let the breast cancer lead her away from something she enjoyed doing. So, she decided that despite still feeling weak and still facing another big surgery, she would buy herself a new camera lens, begin taking pictures of all things beautiful, then try to make a business out of it. She created Oh So Posh Photography and, due to her incredible talent, has been very successful.

You could see a bright light from within as she continued to fight off her breast cancer. This was the exact therapy she needed. In September, her father flew in from Romania to help her while she had her hysterectomy. Great news soon followed her latest surgery, her cancer was in remission and the doctor’s were hopeful that she had finally beaten this horrible disease.
Now, Lidia is embarking on a new journey that brings together her cancer experiences and her amazing talent in photography.  She is offering her services as a photographer to families who have children with cancer or other terminal illnesses.  She will be able to provide a lifetime of memories to families who will be unable to spend a lifetime with their loved ones.  She will provide them with a “brag” book as well as other pictures.  In addition, she would like to provide digital frames for families who are spending a significant amount of time in the hospital.  She has been traveling out of state and incurred costs associated with travel.  In addition, she would like to provide Christmas cards, birth announcements, and  celebration cards.  For example, she recently photographed a newborn baby whose mother died of breast cancer just 2 weeks after giving birth.  She is going to provide the family with birth announcements.
At this time, all of these expenses are coming out of her pocket.  Efforts are being made to raise funds in our community in many different ways.  However, if it all possible, on behalf of Lida, I would like to ask for your support in the form of a small donation that will be made directly to Lidia to help her cover the initial costs of incorporating, which is $3000 in the state of Texas.
If you can’t donate anything, please spread the word to your friends and family and maybe they can. “Hope starts with one person and hope starts with you.”  To read more about Lidia’s story and to see her amazing pictures of these beautiful children.  I posted one picture below of Kate McRae who is suffering from brain cancer.
